Rethink Education - New York - Full time

Rethink Education is seeking to hire a highly motivated and resourceful VC Analyst to join our venture capital team in New York as part of a 2-year analyst program. 

Rethink Education is a venture capital fund focused on early and growth stage investments in education technology companies. We invest in companies that will meet the challenges and opportunities of 21st-century learning. Our headquarters are in White Plains, NY. This position will be based in Manhattan with travel to White Plains once per week.

Job Description

We are seeking an Analyst (with 1-2 years prior work experience and pre-MBA) to join our investment team and focus on sourcing and evaluating new deals, supporting due diligence, working with existing portfolio companies and analyzing new technologies. 

The ideal candidate is someone with a demonstrated interest in and passion for education, connectivity to the edtech startup community and strong critical thinking, financial and analytical skills. Venture capital experience is a plus, but not required. This role is not partner-track, but the 2-year analyst program is designed to provide practical training in venture capital which should help prepare you for your next role at a startup company, large education company or another VC firm.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of edtech market and trends by segment

• Research, identify, and source new deal flow

• Due diligence on new investments including market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling

• Preparing presentations and investment memos

• Supporting/preparing documentation for quarterly financial reporting and external audits

• Supporting portfolio companies on an ongoing basis

• Assisting the investment team as needed

Required Skills and Experience

  • Familiar with the edtech ecosystem from work experience or personal interest
  • Passionate about technology and its potential to have a positive impact on the education system
  • Motivated self-starter, comfortable working in an unstructured environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a small team
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills with a strong ability to communicate thoughts clearly to the group
  • Strong academic track record 
  • Relevant work experience (1-2 years), preferably in investment banking, management consulting or corporate strategy.
  • Strong finance and financial modelling skills
