Agile Project Manager

City Year Headquarters - Boston, Massachusetts - Full time

The Agile Project Manager works within the larger DMEA team to gather and document requirements from internal customers, develop user stories, maintain the team’s backlog, and collaborate with subject matter experts, vendors, and technical staff to develop and document specifications. Additionally, the Agile Project Manager leads the documentation and test case development efforts for both new projects and enhancements to existing systems and tools. This is a hybrid role reporting to the Director, DMEA and combines project management, business analyses, leading agile ceremonies for the DMEA team, and coaching the DMEA team on agile best practices and mindset.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Agile Project Manager is primarily responsible for:

  • Leading requirements gathering and development planning by documenting, understanding, and translating business needs into actionable work items for the development team
  • Collaborating closely with the IT Programs Team to integrate deliverables for projects into DMEA’s workstream and adopt project management best practices
  • Leading the documentation and test case creation processes for DMEA projects
  • Leading daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives with the DMEA team
  • Coaching DMEA team members in use of agile methodologies, including developing user stories, effort estimation, ceremonies, and agile mindset
  • Documenting and communicating meeting notes, decisions, and next steps to DMEA project stakeholders to foster transparency and accountability for project deliverables
  • Maintaining project timelines and communicating updates to stakeholders to support predicable project schedules and mitigate impacts of delays
  • Making recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in IT project management and business analysis
  • 3 years’ experience leading a technical team using agile with demonstrated success delivering valuable products
  • Experience working independently without immediate direction
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, relationship building skills
  • Experience with business intelligence or data integration projects preferred
  • Flexibility to very occasionally work during off-hours to meet deadlines
  • Agile or Scrum master certification preferred
  • Experience in K-12 ed-tech environments preferred
