Director of Curriculum

Study Smart Tutors - Multiple Locations or Remote - Full time

Job Description: The Director of Curriculum will be responsible for the continuous development and delivery of Study Smart Tutors’ products and services. This shall include writing new curriculum, editing and improving current curriculum, and working with curriculum and instruction teams to evaluate effectiveness of Study Smart Tutors’ courses. The Director of Curriculum will fully integrate Study Smart Tutors’ mission to “Educate, Empower, and Inspire” into all classroom experiences. 

Job Responsibilities 

Curriculum Development 

• Revise, Update, and Customize Current PSAT, SAT, and ACT Curriculum 

o Design, edit, update, and systematize SAT and ACT workbooks, work with curriculum coordinator to continuously update lesson plans with PowerPoint slides and practice problems and classroom activities 

o Document and oversee curriculum revisions based on student and instructor feedback and updates from the ACT and the College Board 

o Ensure that course content meets the standards outlined in partnership agreements 

• Develop Non-Test Prep Curriculum to expand Study Smart Tutors’ service offerings. 

o These curricula include but are not limited to GRE prep, Study skills courses, reading and math foundations courses, parent university programs, and other college access courses 

• Supervise Curriculum Coordinator 

o Communicate needs to manage short-term and long-term projects 

Quality Control 

• On-Site Classroom-Observation ---Visit classes to evaluate curricular effectiveness and provide support

o Evaluate curriculum and instruction through classroom observation and site visits 

o Work with instructional team to provide constructive feedback in the areas of student engagement, class management, curriculum implementation, and checking for understanding. 

o Collaborate on development of support materials provided to instructors Teaching and Professional Development 

o Lead professional development workshops for clients including SAT and ACT trainings and tutor and mentor trainings 

o Work with instructional team to provide internal professional development to Study Smart Tutors instructors 

o Attend conferences and professional development workshops 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field (Master’s preferred) 

• Clear CA Credential (single subject in STEM field preferred) 

• 2+ years of teaching/classroom experience 

• 2+ years of curriculum design experience 

• Experienced in time management, establishing priorities, and complying with deadlines 

• Ability to work as part of a team 

• Strong organizational skills 

• Strong written and oral communication skills 

• Access to reliable transportation 

• Ability to travel 10% of the time
