Synapse School has full-time opening for an exceptional After Care Program Coordinator and Rotational Teacher for the 17-18 school year. The ideal candidate possesses a love of children, a positive disposition, a growth mindset and a creative spirit.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Organize end-of-day activities to offer a home-away-from-home experience.
  • Prepare and lead children in activities both structured and informal throughout the afternoon time.
  • Coordinate and provide age appropriate opportunities for children in grades K-8 to be fully engaged after school.
  • Collaborate and plan with other members of After Care team.
  • Ensure that children are supervised at all times and that after school teachers are actively participating with the children.
  • Be attuned to - and communicate to SEL director - opportunities for student social emotional development opportunities
  • Keep accurate records of children attending the After Care program and provide information to the business office for billing.
  • Communicate with families regarding weekly After Care Activities.
  • Serve as an in-house substitute teacher during the school day to cover for teachers when they are out of school.
  • Cover recess and other duties during the school day.
  • Hours approximately 9:30 - 5:30pm

  • Positive, enthusiastic, and warm personality
  • Strong work ethic, proactive, and success-oriented
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an afterschool setting
  • Friendly and patient with excellent communication skills
  • Reliable, flexible and adaptable
  • Skilled at leading activities in program areas such as art, drama, dance, music, literacy, technology, or others
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with high levels of attention to detail
  • An undergraduate degree is required, a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in an independent school is preferred, but not required
