Executive Director, Product Management

The College Board, the national educational organization, is conducting a search for an Executive Director, Product Management. This position is based in New York City.

The Executive Director will work closely with Advanced Placement (AP) and College Board leadership to fundamentally transform the way in which the AP program supports millions of students and teachers. S/he will lead a high-visibility, large-scale, change management project with complex work streams including: digital product design and development, back-end infrastructure integration, user needs evaluation, and assessment development. The Executive Director will apply sharp business acumen, analytical rigor, and exceptional communication skills to drive the project forward. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a cross-functional team through a multi-year design, development, and evaluation process. Launch a complex change management program at scale, on time and on budget.
  • Ensure that resources and tools provided to students, teachers and schools are adopted and used effectively. Integrate pilot findings and unmet user needs, when appropriate.
  • Manage high-level relationships with a set of nationally prominent education technology companies and organizations. Identify and build new partnerships to ensure project success.
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership through clear and compelling written materials and oral presentations. Represent the AP program and the project to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage collaborative relationships across the organization to drive work forward.
  • Hire and directly manage a small team of project managers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • You possess 10+ years of experienceand a track record of success in a combination of digital product development (required), digital product management (required), education, management consulting, and assessment/curriculum development, or learning science.
  • You have extensive experience developing digital products for students, teachers and/or schools and understand the unique challenges associated with education technology.
  • You have played a leadership role in the launch and adoption of a scaled technology product or platform with complex, interrelated, work streams.
  • You possess some familiarity with assessment development (preferred, but not required).

  • You have a record of building strong relationships with collaborators across an organization and external partners. You can leverage their strengths and resources in strategic ways.
