Account Executive

zyBooks - Multiple Locations - Full time

zyBooks is an educational technology company striving to improve computer science and STEM education. We provide an online platform of web-native interactive textbooks, including embedded programming environments, that are proven to help instructors teach better and result in higher student grades - at a fraction of the cost of traditional paper textbooks. zyBooks serves hundreds of thousands of university students across the world.

The zyBooks Account Executive is responsible for driving sales and managing customer relationships at higher education institutions in the US and Canada. The Account Executive works remotely and is assigned territory of 100+ accounts and owns the new business, renewals and other customer-facing sales activities for the territory. The Account Executive reports into the Strategic Accounts Manager, who manages a hybrid team of two AEs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving high growth new business sales and market share in his/her territory.
  • Understanding the organizational structure, timing and seasonality, and the decision-making process in universities and community colleges.
  • Understanding the needs and issues facing instructors who teach lower-division STEM courses, with emphasis on computer science, engineering, and math.
  • Developing your territory contact and call strategies.
  • Communicating educational needs, requirements and trends impacting zyBooks’s roadmap to the product development team.
  • Providing accurate and timely pipeline and forecast information.
  • Maintaining all sales activity data within zyBooks’s CRM.
  • Collaborate and strategize with your Strategic Account Manager to identify, develop and close new business at Tier 1 universities, colleges, and community colleges. Work as a team player within the sales pod team structure.


  • 3+ years of sales experience preferred.
  • A record of success in sales, with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Prior experience in Education/EdTech sales is preferred, but not necessary. Particular experience selling to STEM college-level instructors is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems.
  • Highly motivated and organized. Ability to work independently.
  • A passion for making a difference in education.


  • BS/BA degree preferred.
