Account Executive

MIT’s Open Learning office is looking for a proven Account Executive to help evangelize MIT xPro in the market, drive revenue growth, and ultimately help thousands of learners and organizations develop the skills they need to be successful. This is an inside sales position responsible for both closing new business as well as renewals and expansions with existing customers. There may be occasional travel requirements to meet with prospects and customers, however we expect the majority of your work will be over phone and email. You’ll also need to build your pipeline through prospecting supported with leads from our marketing team. This role will report to the head of MIT xPro.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small team operating like a startup inside a world-class, mission-oriented academic organization.

Responsibilities Include

  • Expertly navigate complicated organizations with multiple stakeholders primarily by phone and email
  • Independently drive the full sales cycle to closing
  • Source sales opportunities, supported by a marketing team
  • Nurture existing accounts to ensure renewals and expansions
  • Meet quarterly and annual targets
  • Be the voice of the market and provide critical feedback to our marketing, product and leadership team
  • Improve our sales strategies and process

Requirements

  • History of achieving targets in a similar complex B2B inside sales process
  • History of successful prospecting
  • Comfortable and effective in an unstructured, startup environment. Initiative is a must.
  • Willingness to relocate to, or at least travel on a regular basis to, Boston to meet with the team and various MIT stakeholders
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to meet prospects and customer on an as-needed basis
