About the Job

Magoosh creates excellent content that helps students prepare for gateway exams like the ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, IELTS and TOEFL. Our talented teams of Remote Test Prep Experts and Online Tutors, who are spread across the country, provide email and Skype academic support to students as a supplement to their self-studies.

We are looking for an empathetic, organized, and passionate people manager to manage our remote teams of Test Prep Experts and Online Tutors with the ultimate goal of providing fast, high-quality academic support to our students when they need it. We aim for 98% student satisfaction and you’d be working to ensure that we maintain this high level of quality.

This position is a full-time, in-office position based in the Magoosh office in Berkeley, CA with an annual salary of $96,000 - $114,500, depending on experience. You must be authorized to work in the US.

In this position, you will…

  • Appropriately scale the Remote Test Prep Expert and Online Tutor teams to meet student demand and company goals
  • Direct the activities of the Remote Test Prep Experts and Online Tutors through the remote Team Leads
  • Manage and support the Team Leads so that they can successfully lead their teams and grow professionally
  • Make our Student Help processes even faster and more efficient
  • Ensure the accuracy and efficacy of the advice we give students
  • Improve Online Tutor onboarding and training to bring it up to the level of the more developed Remote Test Prep Expert onboarding and training
  • Understand different areas of work across the company in order to facilitate collaboration between the remote and in-house teams
  • Set strategic quarterly goals that contribute to success on annual goals


  • Are passionate about education
  • Have 2 years experience as a team leader or manager
  • Can evaluate performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Are a top scorer in one or more of the following exams: SAT, ACT, GRE, or GMAT
  • Have 2 years test prep teaching or tutoring experience
  • Have a deep sense of empathy for people from diverse backgrounds—you can always relate
  • Are an outstanding writer
  • Are always “plugged in” and very responsive online
  • Enjoy participating in online communities
  • Enjoy handling nebulous problems and coming up with solutions
  • Are comfortable coordinating work across multiple departments and people

Extra credit if you...

  • Have experience managing dispersed teams
  • Have experience with CRM tools, like Zendesk and Intercom
  • Have experience hiring and training
