PowerMyLearning of the Greater Atlanta Region is seeking a new Director of Programs. TheDirector of Programs is responsible for leading the successful implementation of PowerMyLearning’s programs in Atlanta in to help teachers, students, and parents in high-poverty school communities harness the power of PowerMylearning programs to improve student achievement towards college and career readiness. Our programs address student learning in all environments, including both the classroom and the home. Operating in the most disadvantaged communities throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area, PowerMyLearning has served over 7,300 students, along with their families and teachers, in 16 schools

PowerMyLearning has recently completed a strategic growth plan to expand our reach and increase our impact with families and teachers in our partner schools across greater Atlanta region. This new initiative provides an exciting opportunity for teachers to better personalize instruction, make learning more engaging for students, extend learning time outside the classroom, and better connect with and involve parents in the learning process. The Director of Programs will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the program vision and managing program execution.

The Director of Programs serves as a senior leader on the PowerMyLearning-Atlanta team. This position manages full-time staff responsible for the implementation of PowerMyLearning Programs and the new elements of our work with teachers. Additionally, the Director of Programs will support national program development by collaborating with PowerMyLearning’s regional and national teams.

This position reports to the Atlanta Executive Director, Kwame Johnson.


Manage the PowerMyLearning Programs Implementation

ŸBuild and maintain strong relationships with PowerMyLearning’s partner school districts, schools and school leaders

ŸIn conjunction with the Executive Director, create strategic direction for the program

ŸReport pertinent program data to internal and external partners

ŸCull program data to suggest course corrections, professional development requirements for staff, and strategic suggestions

ŸPlan with Director of Technology & Operationsto target and solve program implementation issues and future evolution of processes

ŸLead teams responsible for PowerMyLearning’s direct work with families, students, and teachers

ŸSupport and manage teams to ensure high quality program implementation at all levels

ŸArticulate the program vision and value to internal and external stakeholders

ŸProvide ongoing feedback to the National Product team regarding all Program implementation issues

ŸProvide support and guidance to Board of Director Program Development Committee

Support Sustainability

ŸWorking with school leaderships to cultivate existing and new school partnerships to secure revenue for PowerMyLearning Programs

ŸManage selected relationships with metro-Atlanta school districts, charter management organizations, and other external partners

ŸLeverage relationships with schools and school district staff for visits from potential partner organizations and funders

ŸIn conjunction with the Executive Director, help prepare for and attend meetings with funders and potential funders as needed

ŸLead direct reports to cultivate school-based PowerMyLearning champions who are excited to help the organization further its mission

ŸLeverage direct reports to help support short- and long-term sustainability objectives

ŸAssist in region efforts to engage more teachers, schools and partner organizations in our work each year; manage annual school selection process and other events outside of program implementation

ŸGather and accurately report program data for local and national sustainability efforts

ŸUnderstand and communicate the mission and theory of change to staff, clients, funders, and other stakeholders

Ensure a High-Performing Program Team

ŸBuild a strong, outcomes focused performance culture within the program team

ŸCultivate, hire, and manage a high-performing team

  • ŸManage individual team members’ performance: ensure training and coaching necessary to perform basic job duties; give recognition and direct constructive feedback; hold regular meetings with team members to support their performance; perform annual performance reviews; and maintain documentation as per PowerMyLearning standards

ŸDevelop the leadership of staff to support regional and national priorities

ŸManage up by being proactive and keeping manager informed of changing priorities

Other duties as necessary, including attendance at Saturday program events as needed during the school year (approximately 12-15 times) with comp time to be used the following week



ŸPassion for PowerMyLearning’s mission

ŸBachelor’s degree

ŸExperience as a classroom teacher

ŸExperience working with low-income communities

ŸExperience working with public schools and/or districts

ŸExperience overseeing or leading professional development of teachers

ŸAt least three years of experience in program management

ŸAt least two years of experience in managing a team of full-time staff

ŸExperience managing external partnerships

ŸStrong organization and project management skills

ŸExceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills

ŸCapacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects

ŸAbility to set priorities for self, team, and peers, and adjust when priorities change

ŸExcellent written and verbal communication skills

ŸDemonstrated flexibility when priorities change

ŸExpertise with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel a must


ŸBilingual English/Spanish

ŸExperience teaching Elementary or Middle school Mathematics or Science

ŸResource Development and/or Sales Experience

ŸRelevant Master’s degree


Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. PowerMyLearning also offers medical and dental insurance with an employee contribution.
