With a belief that through play, children can learn and cultivate critical thinking skills, the Curriculum Designer will design and create educational content and curriculum to be used with Wonder Workshop products (Dash and Dot) in classrooms and at home.

Wonder Workshop is poised to become the dominant offering for introducing coding to children in K-12 classrooms around the world. Reporting to the Regional Head of Education, this role is a key contributor to, and influencer across, the K-12 Sales and product staff. This role will be heavily focused on the creation of continuous learning content for educators and will also have an outward facing relationship with educators and the education community.

We are looking for content writers with expertise in curriculum development in STEM, computer science, and general elementary curriculum with an interest and understanding of computer science. The Curriculum Designer will write curriculum specifically geared to the application of Wonder Workshop products in elementary classrooms, ensuring content is usable, relevant, and adds value to the learning experience.

The qualified candidate will have prior curriculum and computer science experience, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate coding concepts into easy-to-understand course curriculum. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have training, instructional design documentation knowledge, and project management experience, and above all will have a passion for learning.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in writing curriculum, and understand the art of curriculum writing in a K-5 environment
  • A strong understanding of standards such as Computer Science Teaching Association, Next Generation Science Standards, ELA standards, Common Core State Standards, etc.
  • Ability to align standards, understand the overall construction of lessons and collection of resources, and know- how to pull from key knowledge sources
  • Prior experience teaching in elementary grades, or higher, with an ability to focus on the needs of elementary learners
  • Experience and interest in Computer Science a plus
  • Networked with educators in computer science as resources to develop the lessons. Able to leverage network and identify content development partners in areas where subject matter expertise requires advanced content
  • STEM training or curriculum focus
  • Experience leading interactive webinars and/or creating instructional training videos for educators
  • Stays current on educational topics and educational standards

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Computer Science experience
  • Must possess a growth mindset and be able to use feedback to refine practice.

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years curriculum development experience
  • Experience integrating computer science and/or robotics into a K-5 environment
  • Experience accelerating student learning and achievement with focused curriculum development
  • Ability to relate to students and how they think
  • A demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly, succinctly and persuasively such that expectations are clear, timelines are delineated, and excellence is defined with measurable goals
  • Experience evaluating curriculum efficacy through classroom observation
  • Experience integrating technology as a teaching tool
  • Adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply to curriculum writing
  • Ability to multitask and project manage the curriculum development
  • Desire to work within a team locally and remotely
  • Availability to travel to conferences, schools and events as needed up to 25%
