Position Summary:

The learning platform and full suite of next-generation courses on the ASUPD roadmap will leverage adaptive technologies to meet students where they are with fully personalized learning and individualized pacing. Additionally, these products will feature entirely custom experiential learning environments that are built leveraging the most engaging and immersive technologies to design a discovery-based, learner outcome-centered, approach. Drawing from ASU’s culture of innovation, the ASU Prep Digital Product team is creating the future of learning. 

ASU Preparatory Academy Charter School, sponsored by Arizona State University is an innovative K-12 charter school. The Social Studies Item Writer should have experience with an Edtech or publishing company and can create standards-aligned, multiple-choice questions. The position requires previous item writing training beyond a classroom writing experience. The candidate will have the ability to work with a team of SS curriculum developers and design items that meet lesson objectives and are of varying levels of cognitive complexity. Part time up to full time hours.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject area or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in online assessment item writing experience, with knowledge of subject area content and online learning technologies
  • Experience writing for an Edtech or publishing company
  • Experience writing items at the state and/or district level preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Multiple Choice item writing
  • Deep conceptual understanding of current Standards at the state and national level
  • Thorough understanding of Webb’s DOK
  • Conceptual Understanding of assessment planning, design, and creation
  • Ability to quickly respond to reviewer feedback and provide aligned item correction
  • Understanding of item complexity psychometric a plus
