Director of Operations

TrueSchool Studio - New Orleans, LA - Full time


The Director of Operations is the strategic partner of the CEO and manages effective, efficient program delivery, team, platform and systems development, and internal operations for scale. This position is based in New Orleans with opportunities for travel.


Organizational Leadership

  • Provide effective and inspiring management of team by actively engaging in and learning about all aspects of the organization, developing a broad and deep knowledge of our approach, program, research, and technology products
  • Manage recruiting, selecting, training, and coaching of new team members
  • Manage team performance, projections for budget, finance and HR systems, including payroll, insurance, + legal
  • Collaborate with the CEO to create financial models for growth and investment

Performance Management, Monitoring + Evaluation

  • Collaborate with the CEO to establish and accomplish organizational goals and strategic milestones, exploring growth opportunities and identifying key risks and success factors
  • Provide expertise and strategic direction for the monitoring and evaluation of our social impact
  • Create systems for tracking progress against our theory of change, including tracking inputs, identifying leading indicators, measuring outputs/outcomes, and determining frequency and methods of data collection
  • Develop and refine benchmarks and methods for internal and external impact reporting, including preparing for quarterly reviews for our Advisors and a digital experience and/or report for broad distribution

Systems + Platform Development

  • Lead organizational efforts to develop streamlined systems, protocols, and processes for replication and scale
  • Collaborate with the CEO to design and develop a platform for virtual coaching, reporting, portfolio submissions, idea sharing, and data capture across schools, regions, and countries

Client Management + Thought Leadership

  • Serve as the main point of contact for current clients, including client management and reporting region-specific findings, cross-regional trends to their leadership
  • Manage program delivery to ensure excellence with scale
  • Be insatiably curious—stay up-to-date on news and findings in the field, contribute to the team’s knowledge base, identify and share exemplary organizations, models, tools, strategies, and networks within and beyond the field of education
  • Collaborate with the CEO to codify learnings and serve as thought leaders in the space; blog, tweet, share big ideas; serve as a connector


  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA/MPP/MPA or equivalent preferred
  • Proven track record as an outstanding operational leader and manager
  • Self-starter and quick study; demonstrated problem-solver with a solutions-focused mindset, and optimistic outlook
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment, flexible and adaptable; Strategic thinker
  • Proven ability to build, motivate, and manage teams; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Grit, drive, and passion, including a commitment to providing access to an excellent education for all students


  • Experience working in a start-up, particularly education technology
  • Experience teaching or working in K12 education, with high need student populations
  • Bilingual or multilingual
  • Experience working in education or policy on the ground in a developing country
