Job Description:

The EdPlus Design + Development group (EDD) is truly at the forefront of University initiatives aimed at promoting student access and success at scale. Whether creating new educational pathways for Starbucks employees and Mayo Medical School students or using adaptive learning to increase undergraduate student success and retention, we are relentlessly focused on helping the University achieve its goal of making more students successful worldwide. We do this by carefully defining the solution space, and rapidly designing and advancing key partnerships and delivery methods to meet student needs.

Working within this context, the Instructional Design Specialist will collaborate with faculty and other course development staff, to conceptualize, design, maintain, and revise technology-delivered adaptive course content and related materials.

Essential Duties

  • Manages the design, development and delivery of adaptive and personalized course content, materials, interactive and multimedia technology-driven components, and other support materials consistent with established design and development processes to ensure flexibility and reusability.
  • Coordinates production of instructional materials with subject matter expert (SME), graphic artists and multimedia developers; consults with clients on course design projects.
  • Develops and disseminates course design standards to ensure all new or updated course masters comply with all existing design standards.
  • Envisions new learning experiences based on audience insights and project goals.
  • Evaluates open educational resources (OER) and copyright content in course materials.
  • Works collaboratively with developers; editing, reviewing and evaluating course content; assisting with embedding and formatting learning objects; and providing quality assurance testing for courses and post production work; adapts course materials for online delivery.
  • Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations.
  • Coordinators or assumes other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related area.Three years instructional design; excellent editing, writing and communication skills; Blackboard or similar course management experience; project management experience.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to use content development tools and applications to effectively and efficiently produce desired results.
  • Experience working in Blackboard/LMS environment to develop online courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for use of technology solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Working Environment:

    Our offices are located in ASU SkySong, a dynamic center for innovation - home to both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies.

    Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
