The Role 

We are seeking a new addition to our ed tech team to expand our ability to seek out and make new investments. While the individual in this role will focus on the investment process, s/he may also participate in ongoing management and support of our ed tech portfolio. Specifically, s/he will:

  • Conduct research on potential areas of investment
  • Develop or refine investment theses
  • Screen new investment opportunities
  • Conduct due diligence on potential investments
  • Collaborate with other members of the ed tech team to structure, negotiate, close, and document new investments
  • Take on special projects as they arise.

Required Qualifications

  • You’re passionate about improving education, particularly K-12 education in the U.S.
  • You have 4-8years of work experience, which includes experience analyzing business strategy, performing financial analysis, and reviewing investment documentation.
  • You have exceptional judgment and analytical thinking skills.
  • You have exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work and communicate with diverse external stakeholders and within a team. 
  • You have strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • You love learning new things. You learn quickly and independently.
  • You thrive in entrepreneurial, dynamic environments. You’re comfortable taking on new tasks or projects with little direction and adjusting course quickly in response to feedback.
  • You respond to new ideas, projects, and tasks with enthusiasm and a sense of possibility.

Ideal Qualifications

  • You have experience in the education field as an educator or as part of an education company, organization, investor, foundation, consulting firm, or government.
  • You’ve worked at an ed tech company, ed tech investor, or school using ed tech.
  • You have experience structuring investments in creative ways.
  • You have experience in –and passion for –measuring impact.

Location

This position will be based in Palo Alto, California. Periodic travel is required but will generally not exceed 20%.
