PowerMyLearning is seeking an outstanding Communications & Digital Marketing Associate to support our efforts to build our brand as we expand our impact through our 5-year strategic growth plan. The Communications & Digital Marketing Associate will report to the Managing Director, External Relations and work alongside a small, dynamic development and communications team in our national office based out of New York City. He/she will also collaborate closely with the Products and Programs team and with regional staff in NYC, LA, Bay Area, and Atlanta. Qualified candidates will be exceptional story tellers with experience creating compelling stories of impact. He/she will bring a minimum of two years of video production, social media marketing, and email marketing experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create engaging content
Lead the development and execution of a plan for creating effective assets (including videos, photos, case studies, and testimonials) that represent PowerMyLearning’s transformative impact on public schools and the students and families we serve and that can be used across multiple channels to drive brand awareness, fundraising, and partnership development (some travel will be required)
Prepare written marketing content such as articles, press releases, blogs, etc.
Support the Managing Director, External Relations on projects aligned with PowerMyLearning’s Communications Plan
Work closely with the Products and Programs team at national and regional staff to determine content needs and opportunities
Develop and execute communications campaigns
Share original PowerMyLearning content across communications channels, including but not limited to targeted emails/newsletters, social media, our website, and others
Publish content marketing, including newsletters and other announcements, to reach target audiences, and develop and implement strategies to increase open rates
Manage PowerMyLearning’s Google AdWords campaigns
Monitor and track key analytics for social media accounts, Google AdWords, newsletters, and website, in order to analyze and improve the effectiveness of our communications campaigns
Work alongside the Managing Director, External Relations to proactively identify and secure earned media/brand awareness opportunities (e.g. news coverage and brand ambassadors)
Support brand consistency and brand awareness efforts
Regularly refresh website content, ensuring accuracy and announcing exciting updates to our products and programs
Lead development of branded collateral, e.g. for PowerMyLearning’s annual event and for donor stewardship
Engage in special projects such as message frameworks, focus groups, etc.
Build on existing communications and marketing systems and toolkits to drive efficiencies and establish brand consistency (e.g. templates for PowerPoint, guidelines, etc.)
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for PowerMyLearning’s mission, including a profound drive to create educational equity
Unwavering commitment to PowerMyLearning’s values (mission-oriented, results-driven, collaborative, passionate)
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field and at least two years of demonstrated experience and success in communications and digital marketing
Strong project management skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams
Exceptional storytelling skills, including experience in developing video and written assets
Understanding of social channels and search engine marketing
Experience with video production
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Strong ability to prioritize and manage up
Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapid change
Proven skills managing multiple details
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal oversight
PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Nonprofit and/or K-12 education experience
Proficiency in software including: Photoshop, Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint
Google Adwords certification
