sofatutor.com is seeking creative, digitally savvy math teachers to work remotely as part of our international content team. As a video script writer, you will play an essential role in the creation of engaging math tutorials produced with state of the art digital technologies.
This is a great opportunity for a teacher who is already investing his/her time in developing real world applications for use in the classroom. You will work remotely with the sofatutor editorial team using our online video development process. This is a part-time position with no need for relocation.
About the role
You will be responsible for developing plot ideas and storylines for concise video tutorials in Math. We will need you to write creative storylines with rich connections to important topics in the K-12 Math curriculum. In addition to the development of the screenplay for each assigned topic, you will create an interactive learning unit to help users assess their learning progress. You will complete these tasks using our easy-to-learn and user-friendly online interface.
When you join our team your work will begin with a brief training course. You will learn all about how to write a good tutorial screenplay from our team of experts at sofatutor.com. You will also be able to share your ideas and collaborate with our international network of math teachers.
We are open to applications from Math teachers from any training background and level of teaching experience so long as they have experience with teaching within the American school system. An ideal candidate would have
- Bachelor’s degree and teaching certification in Math.
- 2+ years of teaching experience in Math (Middle or High School level)
- Very good writing skills. Experience in creative writing is a plus.
- Experience working collaboratively in a virtual environment like Google Docs.
- Basic LaTeX skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- A good sense of humour.
- Access to high speed internet.
- Available to work 5-10 hours per week on your script assignments.
- Ability to work independently in a virtual environment.
Note: Your working hours will be flexible. Most of the work will be independent and asynchronous but some scheduled online meetings will be required at specific times.
Individual contract and compensation based on experience.
