The Middle SchoolDean of Social-Emotional Learning & Community will be responsible for leading DREAM'sSocial-emotional Learning Program at one of DREAM's middle schools and driving the positive culture for schoolcommunity, staff, families and students. The ideal candidate is areliable team player with deep expertise in and commitment topositive youth development and SEL.Responsibilities:

  • Management and Leadership
  • Serve as a member of the Middle School Leadership Teams;
  • Supervise and provide professional development of the FamilyEngagement Managers to ensure strong family partnership andengagement and strong family satisfaction;
  • Supervise the school-based mental health provider and SELspecialist to ensure high quality tier 2 and tier 3 SEL and mentalhealth services; including ensuring all IEP mandates are met andcompliance with SPED requirements ;
  • Conduct walkthroughs, review student life data systems,collaborate with DOC and drive changes as needed to improve studentculture outcomes.
  • Drive Social-Emotional Learning Program & Positive SchoolCulture:
  • Design and Lead the execution of positive culture initiativesand systems to build positive community among staff, families andstudents (community gatherings, family events, staff SEL, studentincentive systems);
  • Lead execution of the SEL curriculum in Advisory, Homeroom andSEL intervention that drives student social-emotionaldevelopment;
  • Design lesson plans, aligned with DREAM's network SEL visionfor teachers and SEL Specialist;
  • Collaborate with Academic Deans to utilize student academic andsocial emotional learning achievement data to customize and improveinstruction;
  • Drive the execution of SEL data systems including SEL dataadministration and collection, data analysis, continuousimprovement, and action planning;
  • Provide coaching and professional development for school staffto improve the execution of SEL programming (e.g. observation andfeedback, whole group PD).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in education, socialwork, youth development or related field; advanced degree in aneducation field, preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with and engaging youth,families and teachers, with at least 2 years in a management rolemanaging full-time teams to outcomes;
  • Strong track record of success and achievementorientation;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Air-tight follow through;
  • Outstanding organizational skills and airtight follow through,including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-pacedenvironment;
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability toindependently solve problems;
  • Successful experience leading professional development in largegroup, small group and one-on-one settings;
  • A desire to make a difference in the lives of our students,families, and community;
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred;
  • Self-starter and ability to innovate and think creatively;
  • Deep embodiment of DREAM's organizational values of teamwork,diversity, integrity, and fun;
  • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, includingthe desire to make a difference in the lives of our students,families, and community.

Compensation:

  • The salary range for incoming Deans of SEL and Community is$90,000 to $105,000. Incoming salaries are determined based on thenumber of years of leadership experience and internal equity. Allleaders are eligible for annual performance-based salary increases.Because we value staff tenure in each role, we do not currently capsalary ranges.
  • We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majorityof the employee premium for medical plans and subsidizing themajority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Otherbenefits include dental and vision plans, disability, lifeinsurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending account options,generous vacation time and paid holidays, referral bonuses,professional development, an employee assistance program (EAP) anda 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching up to 4%.
