To learn more, visit wearedream.org.Reporting to theDean ofCulture, the Middle SchoolAssistant Dean of Cultureprovides support to the Dean's Office staff bysetting a positive culture, with a focus on scholar achievement.The Middle School Assistant Dean of Students also provides directsupervision, data input, and intervention services toscholars.Like all DREAM employees,the Middle School AssistantDean of Culture shoulddemonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of DREAMand should have substantial expertise in all areas ofresponsibility. Candidates must also value DREAM's comprehensiveapproach to education and desire to make a lasting impact inunderserved communities as part of a growingorganization.Responsibilities:
- Monitor class transitions, lunch, recess, detention, in-schoolsuspension, and scholars otherwise out of class;
- Supervise all aspects of the detention program afterschool;
- Input school culture data into information systems;
- Responsible for logging, tracking, and completing paperwork fordiscipline issues;
- Facilitate community building and response to harm restorativecircles;
- Communicate with families regarding school response to studentmisbehavior, conduct violations, and investigations;
- Implement school-wide expectations, behavior systems, routines,and procedures by daily, weekly, and monthly review of individualstudent, class, grade and school conduct violations;
- Carry out discipline code and follow up for scholars, families,and staff;
- Respond to students in crisis, support students through crisis,and provide de-escalation intervention;
- Constantly uphold school-wide expectations, behavior managementsystems, and be a model of consistency;
- Provide input and insight regarding effective strategies forpositive school culture and supporting specific scholars.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or human services fieldpreferred;
- School based experience with adolescents preferred;
- Special education degree or training helpful;
- Experience using restorative practices in a school-basedsetting preferred;
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful;
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission, goals,educational philosophy and activities of DREAM Charter School, asdescribed in the school's charter;
- Belief in the unlimited potential of all children and possessesa sense of urgency to increase student achievement;
- Fosters open communication with the school community andeffectively conveys high expectations for student learning;
- Success in working collaboratively with other professionalstaff on the improvement of instruction;
- Ability to work well with others in a team-orientedenvironment;
- Intelligent, resourceful, creative, and hard-working;
- Superior organizational, data management, and recordkeepingskills;
- Strong skills in analysis of teaching, problem solving,attention to detail.
Compensation:
- DREAM offers a competitive salary commensurate with relevantexperience with the potential for an annual performance-basedincrease. The incoming salary range for this position is $60,000 to$70,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at asalary closer to the start of the range depending onqualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for therole. All staff are eligible for annual performance-basedincreases. Because we value staff tenure in each role, we do notcurrently cap salary ranges.
