As the 1809 Education Policy Analyst, Systems Solutions you will report to the 0992 Systems Product Manager, be a part of the Department of Technology (DoT), and a district leader in policy and practice for SFUSD systems solutions with a primary focus on SFUSD’s Google domain. You will be part of a team to help lead the Department of Technology’s transformational work to deliver on the promises outlined in both Transform Learning. Transform Lives. as well as our long-term, city-wide North Star, Vision 2025.

We want a strong problem-solver with a systems mindset who will act as SFUSD’s expert on the constantly evolving technology ecosystem with a primary focus on the district’s Google Suite ecosystem, and who can lead the design, support, and implementation of the District’s strategy for the direct development, testing, piloting, rollout, and change management of those services.

The 1809 Education Policy Analyst, Systems Solutions will:

  • Deep working knowledge of the Google Suite ecosystem and other core SFUSD systems such as Zoom and Clever, and a passion for applying those tools in a K-12 environment
  • Experience with user testing and user experience design with technology systems, including Google and Zoom
  • A strong record of managing organizational change and initiating key innovations with technology
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues

Demonstrate a Leadership Mindset

  • Maintain a strategic, detailed, and forward-thinking understanding of the Google Suite ecosystem, and other core systems, to inform and guide SFUSD’s planning and roadmap for system adoption
  • Assist in the support, development, and exploration of Google Classroom as a potential, district-wide Learning Management System (LMS) platform
  • Co-Develop policy and best practice for the selection of which system services/features of core systems and Google services deploy and/or disable
  • Lead and support Google service pilots and perform Google domain administrative responsibilities, including advisement of Chromebook and Android device management
  • Lead and execute technical and security recommendations for current and future Google services and other core system services, as security standards for system and data integrations across Google and core systems
  • Review existing and future Google services to ensure they meet SFUSD’s legal and data privacy requirements for students, educators, staff, and enterprise operations
  • Expand use of Google federated logins to support single sign-on (SSO) for related, district-supported, online, digital tools and core systems

Manage to Results

  • Recommend, communicate, document, and affect approved day-to-day and periodic changes to Google services and settings within the Google Admin console, as well as in other core systems
  • Review and assess project, contract, and procurement requests to ensure alignment with security standards, including access/permission management, system integration, and data sharing

Manage Teams

  • Ensure appropriate professional development, internal training, and change management resources are in place to support existing and future Google services and other core system services

Manage Relationships

  • Understand the interconnectivity and holistic needs of students, educators, and staff within the current and ever-changing functionality of Google services
  • Develop and collaborate through thought partnerships with Google to shape the expansion and adoption of Google services within SFUSD
  • Work closely with the DoT’s Help Desk and Support Teams to provide Tier 2 support for technical issues related to Google services and other core systems, and a fulfill role of support liaison with Google for large-scale systems issues

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile
  • Previous experience presenting or creating effective professional development
  • Ability to strongly empathize with district users of Google and core system services and their unique needs
  • Google Educator Level 1 & Level 2 certifications and/or Google Certified Trainer
  • Experience deploying and/or supporting large-scale Chromebook deployments
  • Experience administering a Google Apps domain and/or Google Suite Administrator certification

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of related work experience
  • BA/BS from an accredited institution in a related field

Substitution: Education requirement may be substituted for additional professional-level experience on a year-for-year basis.
