As the Digital Learning Integration Designer, you will co-design and execute programs and resources that support digital learning for all of our teachers and students in SFUSD. You will help to lead the Department of Technology’s transformational work to deliver on the promises outlined in both Transform Learning. Transform Lives. as well as our long-term, city-wide North Star, Vision 2025.

Demonstrate a Leadership Mindset

  • Coordinate professional development cycles and apply tested instructional design theories and methods to develop resources for educators in service of digital learning integration
  • Collaborate with others in the Department of Technology’s (DoT) Digital Learning and Enablement team to:
    • Embed the effective use of technology into instruction to personalize student learning
    • Develop and provide associated professional development for teachers and administrators
    • Provide guidance to principals and departments on the use and integration of technology in classrooms for instructional effectiveness and to personalize instruction responsive to the needs of teachers and students
    • Research technical properties of classroom technologies in support of personalized instruction and innovation
  • Research and keep abreast of educational technology trends and emerging technologies as related to the design of personalized learning environments

  • Work within and consistently meet tight deadlines.
  • Prioritize and problem solve tasks in line with current district priorities.
  • Work with efficiency and flexibility amid changing priorities.

Manage Teams

  • Facilitate community building and collaboration among your assigned cohort teachers and Digital Learning Facilitators
  • Collaborate on other Digital Learning Professional Learning Communities, including the Personalized Learning Environments program.
  • Lead professional development and coaching on digital learning to a variety of audiences.

Manage Relationships

  • Communicate closely with your cohort’s administrators, teachers and other district leaders.
  • Maintain project documentation and timelines using and refining existing processes.
  • Accurately and clearly convey timely information and ideas, using a style and manner of presentation appropriate to the target audience
  • Write clear and persuasive copy for websites, online courses and other training materials, social media, email newsletters to foster integration of technology in SFUSD classrooms; proofread and edit content as needed or directed.
  • Translate technical innovation and software/hardware complexity into ‘accessible’ language for a wide audience.

This is a Permanent Exempt (PEX) appointment type.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S) in instructional design, educational technology, or related field from an accredited college or university; advanced degree preferred
  • Two (2) years of professional-level experience in education technology or a related field
  • Strategic leadership and management experience; in a K-12 public educational setting preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in urban education as a teacher and/or instructional coach with excellent knowledge of digital learning, learning theories and instructional design models
  • Strong collaboration and clear verbal/written communication skills
  • Knowledge of online and blended learning design principles
  • Experience in using Google Suite and other digital tools in support of pedagogy and productivity
  • Experience in teaching and/or coaching digital learning, especially in a culturally responsive, digitally literate, 1:1 device, and/or personalized learning environment
  • Experience in successful design and facilitation of digital learning professional development in the field of education
  • Awareness of how special populations can be supported to thrive in the core curricula through leveraging technology
  • Experience in supporting education leaders (e.g. site, district administrators, etc.)
  • Creative and innovative, solutions-oriented, results-achieving, motivated, and inspirational
  • Passionate about addressing systemic access and equity barriers; experienced in change management
  • Demonstrates the ability to compromise, lead and persuade without positional authority; values positive and constructive feedback for professional improvement
  • Self-manages priorities and time; coordinates between multiple tasks to achieve results

SFUSD offers a competitive salary of $98,416 - $134,433 commensurate with experience in a similar position.
