Jenny Velasquez is the Middle School Head at St. Martin's Episcopal School. Her previous work included Co-Director of the school's Idea Lab. She has 15 years teaching experience integrating social studies, language arts, and all things tech!
Aimee Hyatt is a native of the New Orleans area. She attended Louisiana State University, where she received a B.A. in history. Following graduation, she attended the University New Orleans, earning a M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction. Aimee has been with St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Metairie, Louisiana since 2008 serving as a Middle School Social Studies teacher. She is also a graduate of St. Martin’s and is now serving as the Alumni Director.
Mrs. Cherie Haydel-Goins, a dedicated New Orleans public educator of 23 years, has served as Assistant Principal of Behrman Charter School since 2008. She also held positions of Numeracy Coach, Staff Developer, Day Care Owner and Director, and Technology Coordinator. Mrs. Goins' mission is to positively impact teacher preparation and education in New Orleans. Her expertise is in the area of Instructional Technology. She is also a doctoral candidate at the University of New Orleans and her research interests include educational leadership preparation and development with an emphasis on art and technology integration and social justice.
Krista Markert graduated from Drew University in Madison, NJ and moved to New Orleans in the spring of 2008. She began teaching special education on the west bank of Jefferson Parish. Later, she served as a Master Teacher through the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) and as special education coordinator. She currently serves as the Director of Student Support Services at FirstLine Schools.
Nia Mitchell is the Principal of Algiers Technology Academy, New Orleans only Digital Media High School. In her first year Nia has expanded Adobe certification courses, started a Video Production program and has seen notable academic growth. Nia believes that the potential, passion and commitment that she sees in students and staff have been the driving force for her continued desire to make a difference in the lives of students.
