The shift towards online and remote learning for K-12 students has created some particularly difficult challenges for hands-on experiences with emerging technologies. At the same time, the horizon for STEM learning has presented amazing new opportunities for students to experience emerging technologies in their own contexts. The necessity for and ability of emerging technologies to reach students in meaningful ways, where they are, has been amplified. Studying robotics adds the particularly robust practices of integrating, math, engineering, teamwork, and computer science disciplines as students design and use machines to solve problems and complete challenges. Bringing these different learning domains together means there’s also the ample opportunities for learning differentiation with respect to diverse learning communities.
