knodemy hosts its “girls only” hackathon Sunday which will provide an opportunity to girls who are eager to learn computer science, to collaborate, innovate and bring their ideas to life.
The hackathon is structured to teach students to become builders and creators and not just consumers of technology.
No prior programming experience required
What will they learn?
- Introduction to programming, basics in programming languages such as:
- Concept of an idea to a product
- Students will learn:
- Time management
- Leadership skills
- Collaboration/team work
- Presentation/Pitching Skills
- Problem Solving
What to expect?
Girls will attend the first part of the Hackathon where they will be taught the basics of programming. After the instruction is over, students will break into teams, and they will get a chance to collaborate, brainstorm their ideas and create a project. At the end of the hackathon each team will present their project to the attendees, judges and knodemy instructors. Judges will announce the winner, runner-up and the 3rd position
Is there an age limit to enter the event?
Girls 8th grade and up. No prior programming experience required
