About the Washington DC Mini Maker Faire:It all started after a Washington, DC policy panel on broadening access and participation in STEM education through technology….Originally the brainchild of AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellows Dorothy Jones-Davis, and Warren (Trey) Lathe, and Kipp Bradford, co-founder and organizer of the first Mini Maker Faire (the Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire), the Washington DC Mini Maker Faire planning team quickly expanded.

With encouragement by the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships Program, it grew to include co-organizer, Brian Jepson (Maker Media), and founding sponsors: ideaspace, and The Capitol Riverfront, as well as partners from the local community, the federal and local government, non-profits, and industry, all coming together to bring the spirit of the Maker community to Washington, DC. Located in our Nation’s Capital, and following in the footsteps of recent area Mini Maker Faires (theSilver Spring and Northern Virginia Mini Maker Faires, respectively), the DC Mini Maker Faire was envisioned as a way to Show (and Tell) the world what a diversity of Washington DC makers have to offer the world.
