Civitas Raises $8.75M For Higher Ed

CIVITAS: Whopping $8.75 million kaching for Austin, Tx.-based Civitas Learning to expand its predictive analytics platform, aimed at higher ed students. The goal is to provide personalized course recommendation help to students. “We joined Civitas Learning because we believe that sharing data-informed insights on student success can transform student outcomes,” said Javier Miyares, President of University of Maryland University College in a statement. The company was founded in 2011 by Charles Thornburgh and Mark Milliron. This round was led by Emergence Capital Partners. It included past investors Austin Ventures, First Round Capital and Floodgate. New investors include Felicis Ventures and New Markets Venture Partners. Adam Dell of Austin Ventures and Santiago Subotovsky of Emergence Capital Partners are on the board.
