UClass Connects Students Around the World

Nov 28, 2012

BETA Think of UClass (or United Classrooms) as a Facebook-era global pen pal program for schools. It was launched in August by two former TeachForAmerica corps members who wanted to help their students connect with other students around the world. It's a teacher-driven activity: Teachers sign up (and are authenticated by UClass) and then register their students. Teachers can then create pages and describe their class' projects, post messages, assignments and so on (see this description). When teachers connect their page to other teachers' pages around the world, the students can then message one another. Cofounder Zak Ringelstein says UClass has signed up 400 teachers and 4,000 registered students. For the foreseeable future, it's all free.
